Measurable Goals Set In Stone

My writing goals for 2012:

1.)  I will write for a minimum of 30 minutes every afternoon after work.
2.)  I will work on one and only one writing project at a time.  No cheating with other stories or characters.
3.)  I will write at least 5000 words each week.
4.)  On my rare days off from work, I will write for an additional hour.
5.)  I will remember to save my work at the conclusion of my writing day.

Personal goals for 2012:
1.)  I will not eat any Reese's cups (or peanut butter hearts, eggs, or trees either) this year.
2.)  I will run 10 miles a week.
3.)  I'm going to be nicer to my co-workers.*
4.)  I will lose this last 10 pounds for ever.
5.)  I will read only books that I want to read.  That means that I'll never touch Barbara Walter's biography.

*#3 will be the hardest goal of all.  These are some of the most annoying, belly-aching people I've ever encountered.

  1. Sometimes, the hardest goals can be the ones that satisfy the most! Good luck!

  4. Susan--I love goal number 5 under writing goals--something to live by! We had two computers' hard drives crash this fall--luckily not my writing laptop--and so I signed up for dropbox. It automatically backs up the files to an outside space when I make changes.

Great writing goals--5K a week is awesome! Good luck carving out the writing time!!

(I have to say, I'm a little sad about the Reese's cups.)

  5. It's so tempting to flit between projects! I'm trying to learn how to balance multiple projects, but I never get anything done when I try to do multiple first drafts at the same time! Good luck (especially with your co-workers)!

  6. Great goals! I hope that you are able to manage all your goals. I haven't included my personal goals on my blog, but perhaps I should. Good luck with both of your writing and your co-workers. :)

  8. Love your goals. I think I could add the Barbara Walters thing to my list, too. That'd be one goal that's super easy to reach!! :) And I'm w/ Jess - no Reese's? A little part of me just died inside...

  9. Great writing goals. Yes, definitely remember to save your work :) Agree with personal #5 - read what makes you happy. Whenever you get a hankering for sweets, eat an apple or have a piece of dentyne gum instead. Works wonderfully.
